On a Tuesday afternoon, the 15th of December, 2015, tragedy struck in Kansas City, Kansas, forever altering the lives of one family. Deandre Goodson, a 28-year-old Black / African American man, was in the 1300 block of North Fourth Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. when his life was cut short. In a sudden act of violence, Goodson was shot in the face, a fatal wound that ended his journey. The incident was one of two homicides to occur in the city on that day, shaking the community.
In the days that followed the shooting, the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department worked to piece together the events that led to Goodson's death. Their investigation quickly led them to a suspect, and two days later, an arrest was made. Wyandotte County prosecutors brought charges against 21-year-old Keyaun M. Lee of Kansas City, Kansas. He was charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Deandre Goodson.
Following his arrest, Keyaun M. Lee was taken into custody and booked into the Wyandotte County jail. A bond was set at $500,000 as he awaited legal proceedings. While an arrest was made, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting continued as authorities sought to bring a measure of justice for Deandre Goodson and his loved ones.
