On a tragic Friday morning, June 15, 2018, in Kansas City, Kansas, the life of 35-year-old White/Caucasian male Patrick Rohrer, a dedicated Wyandotte County Sheriff's deputy, was cut short. Rohrer, a seven-year veteran of the department, was transporting an inmate with his partner, Deputy Theresa King, from the jail to the Wyandotte County Correctional and Court Services building for a hearing. The routine task turned deadly in a secured parking area behind the courthouse.
