Carlos had moved to the Kansas City area years earlier, in 2008, alongside his father. He was remembered as a dedicated individual who focused on his studies and worked hard to support his family, including his mother and younger brother back in Zacatecas, Mexico. Oswaldo had arrived more recently, filled with hope and seeking the "American Dream" to provide for his wife and their three young children.
