In the pre-dawn hours of June 30, 2014, the quiet of a Washington, D.C. neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At the intersection of 19th and H Streets in the Northeast quadrant of the city, 23-year-old Darryl Delonta Jacobs, a Black male, was the victim of a fatal shooting. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Fifth District arrived on the scene at approximately 12:29 a.m., they found Jacobs suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders
quickly transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe. Darryl Delonta Jacobs was pronounced dead, leaving his family and friends to grapple with the sudden and violent loss. The case was classified as a homicide, and the investigation was handed over to the detectives of the Homicide Branch.
In the years that have followed, the Metropolitan Police Department has continued to seek information from the public to help solve this crime. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death.
