On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at approximately 8:02 PM, a fatal shooting occurred in the 4500 block of Benning Road, Southeast Washington, D.C. The victim, identified as Marcus Jones, a 45-year-old man from Capitol Heights, Maryland, was found inside a car suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
