In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in Washington, D.C., the life of William Clemments Herndon was cut short by an act of violence that remains a mystery to this day. On July 8, 2015, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the 29-year-old man was shot and killed near the intersection of 45th and Ponds Streets in the Northeast quadrant of the city.
