On the evening of March 13, 2025, a dispute in the Marshall Heights neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C. turned fatal, ending the life of 33-year-old Darius Nico Young. A native of the District, Young was a longtime city employee working in human resources. He also assisted his father, a retired D.C. police officer, with a catering business and was known by some as 'Chef Nico' for his generosity and passion for cooking.
