In the spring of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm in the Kenilworth neighborhood of Northeast Washington, D.C., leaving a young man fatally wounded. On the evening of Monday, April 19, 2021, at approximately 7:57 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting. They discovered 27-year-old Kentrell Devaughn, a Black male, inside a vehicle in the 1500 block of 45th Street, Northeast. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
