In the early hours of Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the quiet of a Washington, D.C. neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 2:08 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District arrived at the 400 block of Brandywine Street, Southeast, to find a man lying unconscious on the sidewalk. The man, later identified as 34-year-old Delonte Turner, had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
