On March 28, 2021, at approximately 1:29 pm, 27-year-old Darius Burts was shot and killed in the 2700 block of Bruce Place, Southeast, Washington, DC. The incident occurred inside a residence, where members of the Seventh District responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Burts suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and, after finding no signs consistent with life, Burts was pronounced dead at the scene.
