On September 10, 2017, Carl Hardy, a 24-year-old resident of Washington, DC, was shot in the 1200 block of I Street, SE, near the Potomac Gardens housing complex. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Hardy sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite multiple surgeries, Hardy succumbed to his injuries on October 1, 2017.
