In the summer of 2017, a 32-year-old woman named Shameka Delephine Jones was killed in Washington, D.C. On the morning of July 22nd, police responded to a call about a shooting at a residence in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace, SE. Inside, they discovered Ms. Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Her boyfriend, 40-year-old Ronald Randolph, Jr., was arrested on the very same day. Randolph, who had been released from prison for another violent crime less than a month before the murder, was initially charged with first-degree murder while armed. He later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder while armed. Taking into account his significant prior criminal history, which included a previous conviction for second-degree murder, a judge sentenced Ronald Randolph to 26 and a half years in prison for the murder of Shameka Jones.
