In the early afternoon of a spring day in Washington, D.C., the life of 29-year-old William Venison was tragically cut short. On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at approximately 12:38 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the midday calm in the 2800 block of Gainesville Street, Southeast. When officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were promptly
dispatched and transported William Venison to a nearby hospital. Despite the urgent medical attention and all life-saving efforts, the injuries he sustained proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead. The case was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting an investigation by the detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch.
In the days following the shooting, the police department publicly identified the victim as William Venison of Southeast, D.C. Authorities have not released any information regarding a potential motive for the shooting.
