On April 27, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the 1300 block of U Street, NW, in Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 43-year-old Kenneth Goins of Salisbury, Maryland.

At approximately 1:12 a.m., officers on patrol in the area heard the sound of gunfire and immediately responded to Desperados Burgers & Bar, located at 1342 U St., NW.
