On January 17, 2017, Kevin Kennedy, aged 22, was tragically shot while sitting in a car in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred around 6:23 a.m. when Matthew Moore, Jr., aged 34, was driving a white Kia Optima with Kennedy and another passenger, Ronnell Reaves, also aged 22. Moore parked the vehicle in the 600 block of 14th Place NE, and both he and Reaves exited the car, leaving Kennedy inside.
