On March 8, 2024, 46-year-old Jimmy Thomas Jr. was fatally shot in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast, Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 12:09 p.m. when Fifth District officers responded to a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, they found Thomas, who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
