In the late afternoon of December 23, 2019, tragedy struck in the 4200 block of 4th Street SE in Washington, D.C. It was there that 27-year-old Tyshaun L. Turner, a Black/African American male, was shot and killed. The incident, which occurred at approximately 4:18 p.m., also left another individual with non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency services responded to the scene and transported both victims to a local hospital, but Turner ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
