On the evening of April 26, 2026, a sense of unease settled over the 2700 block of Shipley Terrace in Southeast Washington, D.C. At approximately 5:19 p.m., the sound of gunshots shattered the Sunday quiet, prompting calls to the Seventh District police. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered a young man, 23-year-old Devon Edwards, unconscious and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
