In the late hours of a Friday evening, the sound of gunshots shattered the night in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast Washington, D.C. When police responded to the calls at approximately 11:43 p.m., they discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Darryl Williams, was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
Darryl Williams, a male of no fixed address, became the subject of a homicide investigation led by the
Metropolitan Police Department. In the days following the shooting, detectives began to piece together the events of that tragic night. Their efforts led to the discovery of surveillance footage from a nearby camera that captured a person of interest.
The Metropolitan Police Department has since released images of this individual to the public, seeking assistance in identifying the person in the footage. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the person of interest to come forward and have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Darryl Williams. The investigation into the homicide remains ongoing.
