On a Wednesday evening in Southeast Washington, the sound of gunshots shattered the quiet of the Benning Ridge neighborhood. When police arrived at the 4600 block of Reed Terrace shortly after, they discovered 34-year-old Eric Eugene Marshall inside his car, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. It was May 29, 2019, and the night was just beginning to settle over the city.
