In the late hours of a summer Friday in Washington, D.C., the life of Willie Lorenzo Parker III came to a violent end. On July 9, 2021, the 45-year-old man was in the 1400 block of 41st Street, Southeast, when gunfire erupted at approximately 10:59 p.m. Officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the sound of gunshots and arrived to find a grim scene. Parker was discovered unconscious and unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
