In the early evening of Thursday, January 2, 2025, the life of 24-year-old Corey Ward Jr. was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 9:52 p.m. in the 5200 block of Just Street, Northeast, where officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim, later identified as Corey Ward Jr.
of Northeast, DC, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, and the unconscious and unresponsive young man was quickly transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Corey Ward Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
