On Friday, March 22, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in Northeast Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 22-year-old Matthew Ginyard of Temple Hills, Maryland.

At approximately 2:16 a.m., officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 300 block of 59th Street, Northeast, following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they found Matthew Ginyard with gunshot wounds. Despite immediate attention, Ginyard was pronounced dead at the scene.
