On August 24, 2021, at approximately 11:26 PM, Eric Shorts Jr., a 21-year-old resident of Northeast Washington, DC, was tragically shot and killed in the 300 block of 50th Street, NE. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the scene where they found Eric Shorts Jr. displaying no signs consistent with life. He was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
