In the late hours of a Tuesday in August 2021, the life of 21-year-old Eric Shorts Jr. was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. On August 24th, police responded to a report of a shooting and discovered the young man inside a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical services at the scene could do nothing for him, and he was pronounced dead.
Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are handling the investigation into his death.
There appears to be some discrepancy in the official reports regarding the exact location of the incident, with one report stating it occurred in the 5700 block of Blaine Street, Northeast, while a reward flier and the department's unsolved homicides list mention the 300 block of 50th Street, Northeast. Regardless of the precise location, the tragic outcome remains the same.
