On the evening of February 7, 2022, the life of Ernest Alonzo Dorsey, a 52-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 9:13 p.m. in the 4200 block of Edson Place, NE. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Mr. Dorsey suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported him to a local hospital.
Despite all life-saving efforts, Ernest Alonzo Dorsey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The case was subsequently ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch.
In the wake of the shooting, authorities have sought assistance from the public to gather information that could lead to the apprehension of the person or persons responsible for Mr. Dorsey's death. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any suspects. To date, there have been no publicly reported arrests, and no suspects have been officially named in connection with the ongoing investigation. The case remains an open and active homicide investigation.
