In the early hours of April 27, 2022, the life of 24-year-old Delonte Antonio Williams, a Black/African American male from Washington, D.C., was tragically cut short. At approximately 12:50 a.m., Williams was shot and killed in the 5300 block of Astor Place, Southeast. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District responded to a report of a shooting and found Williams in the vestibule of a building, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel
who arrived at the scene determined that Williams had succumbed to his injuries. His body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is leading the investigation into Williams' death.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, and authorities have not publicly released any descriptions of potential suspects. The police are actively seeking assistance from the public to gather more information about the incident. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Delonte Williams' death.
