In the early moments of the Fourth of July in 2022, a wave of violence shattered the festive atmosphere in Washington, D.C., leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Just after midnight, at approximately 12:01 a.m., the sound of gunshots echoed in the 100 block of Ivanhoe Street, Southwest. Responding to the reports, officers from the Seventh District arrived at the unit block of Galveston Street, Southwest, where they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound that was not
considered life-threatening.
Shortly after this discovery, another call directed officers to a local hospital. A second adult male victim, 20-year-old Daquan Hodge of Southwest, D.C., had been brought in with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite all life-saving efforts by the medical staff, Hodge succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch have since been leading the investigation into the death of Daquan Hodge. His case is now listed among the unsolved homicides of 2022. In an effort to bring those responsible to justice, the department is offering a substantial reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in this tragic incident.
To date, no arrests have been made public in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been officially named. The Metropolitan Police Department continues to seek assistance from the public, encouraging anyone with information to come forward. The investigation remains open as family, friends, and the community await answers in the untimely death of Daquan Hodge.
