On November 17, 2022, at approximately 2:53 p.m., officers from the Seventh District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunshots in the 1500 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast Washington, D.C. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Khalil Jones suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene before being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
