On December 28, 2023, at approximately 11:43 p.m., officers from the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of 17th Street, Northeast. Upon their arrival, they discovered Crawford inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound.
