In the early morning hours of July 25, 2024, violence shattered the predawn quiet of a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 1:41 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Seventh District arrived at the 3900 block of 1st Street, Southeast, to a grim discovery. There, lying in the roadway, they found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 36-year-old Calvin Moore, a Black male with no
fixed address. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel rushed him to a local hospital. Despite all lifesaving efforts by medical staff, the injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The circumstances that led to the fatal shooting remain unclear. Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are actively investigating the incident, piecing together the events of that tragic morning. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing.
To encourage community assistance, the Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Mr. Moore's death. They urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward as they continue to seek justice for Calvin Moore.
