On a late spring evening in Washington, D.C., violence shattered the night on the 2700 block of Langston Place SE. On Friday, June 16, 2017, at approximately 10:43 p.m., the sound of gunfire erupted, leaving three people wounded. Responding to a report of a shooting, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department discovered a chaotic scene. Among the victims was 25-year-old Malik Mahdi Hill, a resident of the District.
All three victims were rushed to local hospitals for medical
attention. While two of the individuals, an adult male and a juvenile male, were listed in stable condition, Malik Hill succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The initial investigation by the police indicated that a handgun was used in the commission of the crime.
In the days that followed, the Metropolitan Police Department continued to investigate the fatal shooting.
