In the late evening hours of August 13, 2014, the sound of gunshots echoed through a neighborhood in Northeast Washington, D.C. When police arrived at the unit block of 46th Place NE at approximately 9:32 p.m., they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of these men was 25-year-old Dexter Motley, a Black male from Southeast D.C. Emergency services rushed both victims to a local hospital, but Motley ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The second man survived the attack.
