In the late hours of the Fourth of July in 2023, a day typically marked by celebration, tragedy struck in Northwest Washington, D.C. Just before midnight, the sound of gunfire pierced the air in the 3500 block of 13th Street, Northwest. When officers from the Fourth District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene at approximately 11:58 p.m., they discovered a young man suffering from a gunshot wound.
