Thomas Marth, a 33-year-old White male, died on April 23, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and his body was discovered in the backyard of his home. The Clark County Coroner's office officially ruled his death a suicide. Consequently, there were no arrests or suspects in the case.
A well-regarded musician, Marth was best known for his work as a saxophone player for the rock band The Killers.
He contributed to their albums "Sam's Town" and "Day & Age" and toured with the band. His sudden death prompted an outpouring of grief from the music community. The Killers expressed their sorrow on Twitter, stating, "Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth. Our prayers are with his family. There's a light missing in Las Vegas tonight. Travel well, Tommy".
Beyond his collaboration with The Killers, Marth was an integral part of the Las Vegas music scene, playing with local bands such as The Big Friendly Corporation and Black Camaro. Friends remembered him as a very talented individual and a close friend to many. At the time of his death, he was working as the nightlife marketing manager for the Hard Rock Hotel.
