On a Wednesday evening in Las Vegas, a gathering at an apartment on Silver Dollar Avenue took a tragic turn for 18-year-old Larenzo Hardison, a Black male. The events of February 15, 2017, began when Hardison and another man went outside to engage in a physical fight over a woman. After Hardison was knocked down, the two reportedly shook hands and decided to head back to the party.
Inside the apartment, Hardison made a phone call to a woman he referred to as his "Auntie," who was later
identified as 25-year-old Ericka Winn. He asked her to bring his gun to the apartment. When Winn arrived, she was reportedly upset with Hardison for not winning the fight. An argument erupted between them, with Winn allegedly punching Hardison. The confrontation escalated, and Hardison decided to leave the upstairs apartment.
As Hardison walked down the stairs, Winn was seen loading the gun. Witnesses reported hearing her say, "I will kill you," before she fired a single shot from the top of the stairs, striking Hardison. He was hit in his right eye and was found bleeding at the bottom of the staircase. Winn and her girlfriend, who was also present, allegedly stepped over Hardison's body as they fled the scene. Hardison was transported to University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries the following afternoon. A few days later, on Saturday, Ericka Winn surrendered to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
