On May 12, 1975, Edward Anthony Buccieri, a 52-year-old white male, was found dead in the parking lot of Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Buccieri, also known as 'Marty,' had been employed as a floorman at the casino since 1967. He was discovered inside his vehicle, having suffered five gunshot wounds to the head.
Initially, the murder was attributed to Wayne Donald Horton, a 25-year-old white male serial killer from Las Vegas. Horton confessed to the killing, claiming he intended to rob Buccieri and shot him when he resisted. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.
However, later revelations cast doubt on Horton's confession. Frank 'Lefty' Rosenthal, a high-level FBI informant with deep ties to organized crime, reported that Buccieri's murder was actually a contract killing ordered by the Chicago Outfit. According to Rosenthal, Buccieri had been pressuring casino owner Allen Glick for money, prompting the Outfit to eliminate him. Rosenthal identified the actual perpetrators as Anthony Spilotro, Joey Hansen, and Paul Schiro, all known mob enforcers.
Despite Rosenthal's information, Horton remained incarcerated until his death in 2010. No charges were ever filed against the individuals Rosenthal implicated, and the true circumstances surrounding Buccieri's death remain officially unresolved.
