In Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 19, 2021, a dispute over property escalated into a fatal encounter for 30-year-old Beau Jared Varney, a White / Caucasian male. The incident unfolded outside a residence on the 5300 block of Rome Boulevard, situated near the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and the northern 215 Beltway.
An argument between Varney and another individual, identified as 32-year-old Daniel Guillen, turned into a physical altercation.
During the confrontation, Guillen allegedly produced a firearm and shot Varney in the chest. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Varney was transported to Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The Clark County Coroner's office later confirmed that Varney's death was a homicide resulting from a gunshot wound.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly detained Guillen until the arrival of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Guillen was subsequently arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center. The initial charges filed against him included open murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a stolen vehicle. However, as the investigation progressed, homicide detectives uncovered new information that prompted a review of the open murder charge by the Clark County District Attorney's office. Consequently, Guillen was released on his own recognizance with the condition that he avoid further trouble, pending a future court appearance.
