On a Sunday evening in Las Vegas, a dispute that began with fists tragically escalated to gunfire, ending the life of 22-year-old Joseph Harrison. The incident occurred on August 22, 2021, in an alley near East Flamingo Road and Palos Verdes Street. When police responded to reports of a shooting, they discovered Harrison, who was then rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he succumbed to a gunshot wound to the torso.
The Clark County coroner's office officially ruled his death a homicide.
The events leading to the fatal shooting reportedly started as a physical altercation between Harrison and another man. According to a witness, the two were involved in a fistfight before the other individual, later identified as Moufassa Haulcy, brandished a firearm. Harrison challenged him to put the weapon down and fight, but instead, Haulcy allegedly shot him. A brief pause followed before more shots were fired, though it was initially unclear who fired the subsequent rounds. Witnesses reported seeing two people fleeing the scene after Harrison was shot.
The investigation into Joseph Harrison's death led to the swift arrest of one of the suspects. On August 23, the day after the shooting, 25-year-old Moufassa Haulcy presented himself at Las Vegas police headquarters to provide a statement and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with murder and conspiracy. Further investigation identified a second individual involved in the shooting.
Months later, on February 2, 2022, police arrested a second suspect, 28-year-old Randy Ramsey. He also faced charges of murder and conspiracy in connection with Harrison's death. An arrest warrant for Ramsey had been issued on November 1, 2021, after police identified him as the second person who had shot Harrison. Both Haulcy and Ramsey were held at the Clark County Detention Center.
