In the early morning hours of April 20, 2016, a fatal encounter unfolded at the Safari Motel on Fremont Street in Las Vegas. Pedro Munoz Rodriguez, a 37-year-old Hispanic male, was standing in the doorway of his motel room when a verbal dispute erupted with another man. The argument escalated tragically when the other individual retrieved a gun from his car and opened fire.
Rodriguez was struck by a gunshot to the head.
He was rushed to University Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Clark County coroner later officially ruled his death a homicide. The shooter fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigators began a search for the suspect, who was described as a tall, slender Hispanic or Filipino man in his 20s. He was reportedly wearing a black hat, a white T-shirt, and a black-hooded sweatshirt at the time of the shooting. The suspect was seen driving away in a white four-door sedan with dark-tinted windows, heading east on Fremont Street. As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the murder of Pedro Munoz Rodriguez.
