Erick Roque was an 18-year-old Hispanic male with dreams of joining the U.S. Air Force. His mother, Olivia Fabian, said he had a bright future ahead of him, and a fundraiser described him as a young man who was just starting his life, with so many experiences left to live. He was loved and cared for by many, especially his family, who wanted to give him the proper goodbye he deserved.
The night of July 13, 2024, ended that future.
Erick and another young man, 20-year-old Efrain Guevara, were attending a house party in the 3000 block of Kaibab Avenue in northeast Las Vegas. The party had been promoted on social media, and a crowd was waiting to get inside. Shortly before midnight, a group of males, including two 16-year-olds, were reportedly turned away at the gate by a bodyguard. A short time later, a stolen Hyundai drove past the residence and someone inside opened fire on the partygoers. Both Erick Roque and Efrain Guevara were struck by the gunfire and killed.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department launched a double homicide investigation. Using surveillance footage from the area, detectives were able to identify two suspects: Noah Sierra and Jesus Martin-Guerrero, both 16 at the time of the shooting. Investigators said the video captured the pair walking to the party with friends and being denied entry just before the drive-by shooting occurred. Police later arrested both teenagers.
Due to the severity of the crimes, Sierra and Martin-Guerrero were charged as adults, facing dozens of counts including murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. The mothers of both victims, Olivia Fabian and Gabriela Nepomuceno, became a constant presence at every court hearing, determined to see justice for their sons. "This wasn’t an accident; it was a tragedy," Nepomuceno said. Their attorney, speaking for the families, told the court, "We are asking no mercy for these defendants."
In February 2026, both Noah Sierra and Jesus Martin-Guerrero accepted plea deals. They each pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. As of that month, sentencing for both was scheduled for April 2026.
