On September 9, 2023, 33-year-old African American male Andre DeJuan Bryant was fatally shot in Las Vegas, Nevada. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire around 9:46 p.m. in the 7800 block of Rainshower Drive, near Buffalo Drive and Spring Mountain Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Bryant inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigations revealed that Bryant, who worked as a mobile marijuana dealer, had been lured to the location under the pretense of a drug transaction. Four individuals—Shelton Beasley Aren Hicks Jacorey Magdaleno and Jonathan Smith —were implicated in the incident. According to court documents, Hicks admitted that he and the other suspects orchestrated the meeting with Bryant. Hicks stated that his firearm was inoperable, leading the other three to open fire on Bryant. The shooting also resulted in bullets striking a nearby residence, endangering the occupants inside.
The motive behind the killing was linked to internal conflicts within a gang known as the Block Boy Mafia. Tensions escalated following a $26,000 robbery at a 7-Eleven on August 7, 2023, which led to a series of retaliatory acts, including the murder of 17-year-old gang member Enrique Nunez on September 1, 2023. Bryant's death was part of this violent chain of events, as he was targeted due to his association with the gang's activities.
Legal proceedings ensued with Beasley and Hicks being certified as adults and held without bail. Magdaleno and Smith were also indicted on multiple charges, including two counts of murder related to both Bryant's and Nunez's deaths. The cases against the juveniles were moved to the adult court system, reflecting the severity of the crimes committed.
