Michael Richard Wysocki, a 66-year-old Caucasian male and longtime resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, died on September 26, 2014, from injuries sustained in an altercation earlier that month. Wysocki, a decorated Vietnam War veteran and a private investigator, had a career that saw him involved in numerous high-profile cases, taking him to various foreign countries. His professional life was complemented by a passion for treasure hunting, leading him on expeditions in Mexico and the Philippines.
Before his career as a private investigator, he served with the Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident that led to his death occurred on September 8, 2014, at the Bellagio hotel and casino. While working on a private investigation, Wysocki had an argument with another man, 48-year-old Dikran “Nick” Dourian of Maryland. The confrontation escalated, and Dourian followed Wysocki to the parking garage, where he punched him. The single blow caused Wysocki to fall and strike his head on the ground. He was transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries.
Wysocki succumbed to his injuries on September 26, 2014. The Clark County Coroner's office determined his cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and ruled it a homicide. Subsequently, Dikran Dourian was charged in connection with Wysocki's death. In March 2016, Dourian pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. In August of that year, a judge sentenced him to a maximum of five years of probation, a $3,000 fine, and mandated anger management courses. The sentence, which did not include jail time, was met with emotional statements of disappointment and devastation from Wysocki's family in court.
