In the late hours of February 15, 2016, the life of 24-year-old Trevon Roland, an African-American male, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident unfolded at the Meadow Vista Apartments located near Lamb Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. Reports indicate that a verbal altercation between Roland and another man escalated, culminating in gunfire.

Responding to calls of shots fired and a man down just after 9 p.m., police officers arrived to find Roland on the ground outside one of the apartment buildings. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Roland was quickly transported to University Medical Center, but his injury proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.

In the wake of the shooting, the shooter had fled the scene, leaving investigators to piece together the events of that night. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified 44-year-old Lacy Howard as a person of interest in the homicide. However, before an arrest could be made in connection with Roland's death, Howard himself was killed in a separate incident. This development led to the closure of the investigation into Trevon Roland's murder.
