On the evening of November 13, 2014, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Las Vegas police responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Torrey Pines Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 49-year-old Marlon Baylor lying in the street with a gunshot wound. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The incident began as a traffic altercation involving Baylor, his wife, and another driver, later identified as 30-year-old William Jacobsen. According to police reports, the confrontation escalated when both vehicles stopped at the intersection. Baylor's wife exited their car to confront Jacobsen, followed by Baylor himself. During this confrontation, Jacobsen produced a firearm and shot Baylor before fleeing the scene.
Following the shooting, Jacobsen contacted authorities from his residence and was subsequently arrested. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges including murder, possession of a controlled substance, and attempted escape by a felony prisoner, as he reportedly tried to escape custody but was quickly apprehended.
