In the winter of 1978, the city of Colorado Springs was jolted by the violent death of a 63-year-old man, Dr. Neil MacEahern. On the night of November 22, 1978, his body was discovered by a patrol officer from the Colorado Springs Police Department. He was found inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Candlelight Inn, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
