In the late summer of 2017, the life of 24-year-old Kenneth Hatcher Jr., a Black male, was abruptly cut short in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On the night of August 20th, Hatcher was at the Playing Field Sports Bar on North Academy Boulevard. In the early morning hours, violence erupted in the parking lot, and Hatcher was shot. First responders arrived to find him with a serious gunshot wound.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Colorado Springs Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into Hatcher's death. Detectives began the arduous process of interviewing witnesses and piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
