In May of 2018, a 17-year-old male, Marshall Aaron Mitschelen, was killed in a shooting in northeast Colorado Springs. The incident occurred in the 2900 block of Whileaway Circle.
Initial reports suggested the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. However, upon investigation and speaking with witnesses, police determined that another 17-year-old male was responsible for the fatal shot. Friends of Marshall have described the shooting as accidental.
