In the summer of 2010, the life of 17-year-old Isaiah Goss was tragically cut short in a violent incident in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Goss, a Black male, was at the Camelot Apartments on June 20, 2010, when he was shot. He succumbed to his injuries the following day, passing away on June 21, 2010. At the time of his death, he was a senior at New Horizon High School and was remembered for his enjoyment of music and video games.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led
authorities to a suspect, another 17-year-old named Leonel Hernandez, who went by the alias 'Suspect.' The Colorado Springs Police Department's Homicide Unit secured an arrest warrant for Hernandez, and the Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office filed first-degree murder charges against him, opting to charge him as an adult. Hernandez is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5'9' tall and weighing 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Following the issuance of the arrest warrant, Leonel Hernandez became a wanted fugitive. Law enforcement urged the public to report any information regarding his whereabouts. There was a reported sighting of Hernandez in the area of Platte Avenue and Murray Boulevard in 2011, a year after the fatal shooting. Despite this lead, information regarding his apprehension remains elusive. The case leaves a lingering question of justice for Isaiah Goss and his family, as the man charged with his murder has not been reported as captured.
