In the late afternoon of Friday, May 16, 2025, tragedy struck in Colorado Springs when 38-year-old Bryan Orlando Parada was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. in the 2800 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue, just a couple of blocks north of Will Rogers Elementary school on the city's southeast side. When Colorado Springs Police Department officers arrived at the scene, a shopping center, they discovered Bryan Parada, who had succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into
the shooting led police to identify a suspect. Emmanuel Cooley III was subsequently arrested and is now facing a first-degree murder charge, along with other lesser offenses, in connection with Parada's death. Court documents revealed that this was the second time Cooley had faced a murder charge.
Bryan Parada, born in Colorado Springs on March 30, 1987, to Orlando Parada and Josette Garcia, was a father of four children: Adonis, Nehemiah, Gabriel, and Aya Parada. Remembered for his humor and ability to light up any room, he was known as a teaser and a joker who loved to make people smile. His family was paramount to him, and he cherished family gatherings. Described as having a heart rooted in faith and love, he had a quiet but deep trust in God's grace. He is survived by his parents, children, and numerous siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
