In the early morning hours of November 26, 2005, a disturbance outside a Colorado Springs establishment at 2555 South Chelton Road tragically cut short the life of 26-year-old Kevin Jamaal Andrews. A Black male, Andrews was found lying on the ground in the parking lot by responding police officers around 3:40 a.m., having sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, and a subsequent autopsy confirmed his death was a homicide.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fatal incident stemmed from an altercation that began inside and then spilled out into the parking lot. The initial dispute involved Andrews and a Hispanic male. The confrontation escalated, drawing in several other individuals. In the ensuing chaos, multiple gunshots were fired. Despite the number of people present, no witnesses claimed to have seen the actual moment Andrews was shot.
The Colorado Springs Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide, but the case has since gone cold. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Kevin Jamaal Andrews, and no specific suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation remains open, with law enforcement appealing to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case and bring closure to the family and friends of the young man whose life was violently taken.
